Mixmag magazine is a dj magazine that started out completely focusing on disc jockeys, now it has moved into a more mainstream audience and has a more of a dance music feel about it. With parts of hip hop, rap and grime music coming into context.
This particular cover uses reasonably bright colours, with the theme of blue and white. The blue is very prominant and gives the magazine a fresh feel about it. . The picture is of a group of young musicians, which is clearly the traget audience of the magazine itself, its layout, colours, and titles all suggest it is targeted at a young audience within the age rang of about 16-25.
The font used for the title is rather unique and instantly expresses a young, fresh and funky feel about it. The font follows a round style also, this relating back to its roots of Disc Jockeys, as discs are obviously round.
This particular cover does not use the vast amount of bright colours that previous covers for mix mag use, they tend to use bright blue, greens, yellows, oranges, and purples. This one however has gone for a more suttle approach. I intend when constructing my Dance music magazine to use bright and vast array or colours, as this is the type of theme i believe best suits this genre.
